Master of Arts
The M.A. program provides preparation for students who wish to pursue careers in clinical, business, or governmental settings, and/or enter a Ph.D. program. There are four concentrations within the program: clinical, experimental, industrial/organizational, and general. Within each concentration, the student is expected to become competent in theory, research, and application of psychology as related to the chosen area of concentration.
Applying
Applicants should have a statistics and experimental methodology course; background in general psychology; a minimum score of 850 on the Graduate Record Examination General (verbal and quantitative combined) Test; a minimum GPA of 2.75 with 3.0 in psychology courses. Beyond the stated minimum requirements, selection is competitive. The total number of hours required is 48. Applicants should submit:
- Graduate Studies Application for Admission form
- Psychology Department Application form
- Graduate Studies Application for Graduate Assistantship form
- Three letters of recommendation
- Transcripts
- A letter of intent/purpose detailing clinical and/or research experience to date and future academic and career goals (not to exceed 1000 words).

Applicants to the clinical and school psychology programs should also submit an affidavit affirming that they have never been convicted or charged with a felony crime. The application and affidavit forms are available online. The application deadline for the Department of Psychology is March 1.
