STEP Grant

This award from the Council on Basic Education will provide funding for Western to review all general education and teacher education course work related to the preparation of teacher to work at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to ensure alignment with Kentucky's Core Content Standards, Kentucky's Program of Studies, and the performance expectations in seven content areas defined by the Commonwealth. Task forces will be appointed for elementary and middle/high school levels consisting of Arts and Sciences faculty, teacher educators, and practitioners for purposes of reviewing current programs and courses and making recommendations for ensuring teacher candidates have the content and teaching skills background to address Kentucky's high standards as a facilitator of learning. Dr. Joe Millichap, Department of English will serve as the project director.
