Brief biography
Dr. McFarland taught full time at Western from 1971 until 2003 and has been on "optional retirement" since then. He was a Fulbright Senior Lecturer in the Soviet Union in 1989. He directed the University Honors Program
from 1990 to 1998, and was named Distinguished University Professor in 1998.
