| Masters of Arts in General Psychology |
The general psychology option is designed for students who desire a terminal master’s degree in general psychology or who plan to pursue doctoral studies in specialties other than clinical psychology, experimental psychology, or industrial and organizational psychology. Course requirements beyond the core requirements are individually determined by the faculty advisor.

4. Core Research Tool
A 3-credit hour research tool is required. This can be completed by taking the Statistical Packages course (PSY 505). Additional options can be demonstrating proficiency in a foreign language or taking a computer programming course. The student must get approval from his/her advisor as well as the program coordinator.
5. Electives
Balance of hours individually determined by you and your advisor depending on your area of interest. This may include graduate courses within the psychology department or from other departments, such as biology or counseling. In addition, courses can be designed to meet your specific needs. For example, the Independent Readings course (PSY 590) has been used as a special topics course. You are only allowed to take two PSY 590 courses.
6. Comprehensive Examination
A comprehensive examination is required upon completion of course work if the non-thesis option is chosen.
