Research Tool
A 3-credit hour research tool is required. Students are encouraged to complete this requirement by taking the Statistical Packages course (PSY 505). The research tool requirement can also be satisfied by demonstrating proficiency in a foreign language or by taking a programming course. These options require the approval of the student's advisor and the program coordinator.
Elective Courses
Student and faculty advisor select courses to complete the remaining 9 credit hours based on the student's interests. Electives can be chosen from 400G or 500-level courses in the psychology department, including up to 3 credit hours in Readings of Research in Psychology (PSY 590), a special topics course that can be designed to meet specific interests. In addition, up to 6 credit hours of electives can be selected from courses offered in other departments.
